How Much Does Tree Removal Cost in Omaha?

Call (531) 227-5581

Tree removal prices in Omaha depend heavily on the tree and the site, so any single number is only a starting point. Here is what we found and what moves the price.

What the estimates say

One third-party cost guide, updated in March 2025, puts the Omaha average at about $1,000, with a range of roughly $400 to $1,700. The same guide says its figures are generalized. Other cost guides will differ. Treat all of these as estimates, not quotes. A realistic expectation is somewhere between several hundred dollars for a small, easy tree and a couple thousand for a large or difficult one.

We are not publishing stump-grinding or emergency pricing, because the only numbers we found came from low-quality sources. Ask for those as separate line items.

What drives the price

  • Height and size. Taller trees take longer and carry more risk.
  • Access. A tree in an open backyard is cheaper than one behind a fence, over a pool, or in a tight lot where equipment cannot reach.
  • Nearby structures and lines. Work near a house, garage, or power line takes more care. See OPPD and trees.
  • Debris. Hauling away the logs and brush, or leaving them for you, changes the price.
  • Stump. Grinding is usually quoted separately. Call 811 first.
  • Condition. A dead ash may need more cautious rigging than a healthy tree of the same size. See emerald ash borer in Omaha.
  • Permits and the boulevard. If the tree is in the right-of-way, ask who handles city approval and whether it is in the quote. See boulevard trees.

How to compare estimates

  1. Get more than one written estimate.
  2. Make sure each says whether it includes cleanup, hauling, and stump grinding.
  3. Check each company holds an Omaha arborist license and carries insurance. See our hiring checklist.
  4. Be skeptical of a price far below the others, upfront full payment, or “topping” a tree instead of properly pruning it.

Insurance and cost

Homeowners insurance often pays for removal only if the tree hits an insured structure, and the removal portion is commonly capped at a few hundred dollars to about a thousand. Check your declarations page.

After a storm

Prices and availability are different after a major storm, and pressure to decide fast is how people get burned. See our storm cleanup guide.
